“Memory as a Dresser” is an installation piece including embroidered drapery, a chest of a wooden dresser and old clothes. Each drawer represents different layers of memories.
「 記憶は引き出し 」という作品は、布に刺繍、木製引き出しや古着などを含んだインスタレーション作品です。それぞれの引き出しは、記憶の異なる層を表現しています。
First row (white clothes) : new and blank memories
第一層 (白い服) : 新しい空白の記憶
Second row (colourful clothes) : recent vivid memories
第二層 (カラフルな服) : 直近の記憶
Third row (clothes with faded colour) : worn off memories
第三層 (色が落ちた服) : 薄れてきた記憶
Forth row (dull and faded clothes) : old memories
第四層 (色褪せた服) : 古い記憶
Last row (black clothes) : core memories
第五層 (黒い服) : 核の記憶
"Memory as a Dresser" represents different stages of human memory. From a blank canvas to detailed recent recollections, later the memory starts fading like how our clothes will eventually start wearing off. The more time passes, the fewer memories we can hold on to and in the end, we can only remember the overall feel of certain memorable events.
「 記憶は引き出し」 は、人間の記憶のさまざまな段階を表しています。真っ白なキャンバスから、最近の詳細な記憶へ。そして、服が色落ちていくように、記憶も少しづつ薄れ始めます。時間が経てば経つほど、私たちが保持できる記憶は少なくなり、特定の記憶に残る出来事について全体的な気持ちや感情しか思い出せなくなリます。
